QED’s Duplex PRV scoops award

An innovative pressure relief valve assembly (PRV) for surge vessels has won a major award from the Institute of Water (IoW). QED’s Duplex PRV assembly added the IoW’s Chairman’s Award for ‘cost savings to business’ to the Severn Trent Water (STW) Innovation Award won in 2013.
The advantages of the Duplex PRV include reduction of shutdown/supply interruptions, aiding conformance to statutory compliance and significantly reducing site health and safety issues. The Duplex PRV is installed at ground level, which allows the annual statutory ‘working’ inspection to be carried out by one engineer without scaffolding, vessel isolations or supply interruptions.
To date, STW has installed the Duplex PRV assembly at 60 of the 150 sites earmarked for the conversion, while the tally for Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water currently stands at 43.
